C6 – Regulatory and legal implications of food-like presentations

Starting with a demonstration of the TGA’s Food-Medicine Interface Guidance Tool (FMIGT), this session delves into the management of these borderline products including the interpretation of “get-up” and related legal precedent (presentation in toto). Speakers will review case studies of products on the continuum between foods and medicines, including examples of food-like presentations of products carrying health claims and how the products are regulated. Finally the session will review the nearby NZ environment for oral health products: supplemented foods and dietary supplements.
